The FOMO blanket

An awesome granny square (rectangle) retro crochet blanket by CraftyRie.
So last year when I finished a blanket for Laney, Joe got a little jealous .. he had a bit of FOMO going on (Fear Of Missing Out)! So I jumped online and ordered the cheapest yarn cakes that I could find to quickly make him a blanket too ... but big mistake, the yarn was crap, so it slowed me right down!

So I treated it as an 'Slow Project' - a project that I'd pick up every now & then to do. It finally got finished and my Joe is loving it!

So as the yarn I used was crap (unevenly spun, horrible texture, terrible dye job), I'm not going to recommend it, so instead here's a link to some nicer yarn that is similar that will be much better to use.

I crocheted each yarn cake into a rectangle = 6 yarn cakes
Then used an additional 3 yarn cakes to join the rectangles and edge it to hang over his bed.

Joe's Jacket: the Pengweeno

I finished knitting this jacket over a month ago but then I got sick, then Joe got sick, then I got sick again... finally, we are all well and I managed to convince Joe to let me to take some photos.

This oversized jacket was the perfect scrap yarn stash buster. I really enjoyed hunting through the cupboard for the all yarn that was hidden in the back that never got used. It's a blend of DK weight yarn held double with Fingering weight yarn so it was a great way to blend colours together.
I really enjoyed knitting this as you knit small blocks at a time, so it went really fast. I'm also totally jealous, so I'll now be knitting myself one!

Pattern is this one.
