Fabric purchases
How cute is this Kangaroo Xmas fabric! I bought it for a swap, it's on its way to the USA.
The red & white fabric is for Bubba Joe's (very first) Xmas stocking.
The colourful stripes fabric.... well, how could I not buy them!
But... what should I use the stripey fabric for??? (they are fat quarters).
AND... did you enter my GIVEAWAY yet???

Balancing Act
This is my version of a balancing act.
Crochet granny square middles on the arm of the couch.
Both rings off my fingers & placed on the arm of the couch.
There was a cuppa tea there as well, but I sensibly moved this.
Note to self... get a side table for next to the couch!
Did you know that I can't crochet with rings on... weird. Can you?

Ravelry
Choose option a) or b)
a) Are you on Ravelry? Yes! Then lets be friends, I'd love to see your projects, your bookshelf & of course all the items that you fave. You can find me as craftyrie (yeah, I know, I'm not creative when it comes to making up names!!!)
b) Are you wondering what the heck Ravelry is?? Well, Ravelry is kinda like Facebook for yarnies (knitters, crocheters, spinners etc) but way cooler & it lets you record what's in your yarn stash, upload your list of craft books and of course, you can show off your current projects and find patterns etc etc etc. I highly recommend it. BUT you do have to sign up for it, but don't worry, its free and FUN!!! Click here to join in the fun....

Taa daaaaaa!
And here is Joe's dressing gown (finally) finished!
Phew, I didn't think it would get there, but it did & my lil bubba can be toasty warm from now on!
BTW, that's Bubba Joe with his new hair do... His hair had grown beyond his eyes & was hitting his cheeks... sob, he had to have it trimmed & he's not even 8mths old yet!

Mess
Ugh.
What a mess.
This is what happens when you..
a) don't follow a pattern
b) don't take notes
c) don't look at what you're doing
d) don't even have a proper goal.
In case you can't tell from the picture - it's sticking up in the middle (the green crochet) instead of lying nice and flat like it was supposed too......

Match for Match - creating a piece without a pattern
As you may know, I'm making bubba Joe a crochet dressing gown.... and I'm not using a pattern.
I have been using a fabric jacket (purchased) as a pattern which I will use as a guide & make bigger & longer.
The above photo is what it looks like so far.
The photo's below show the jacket I'm using next to what I'm crocheting. I still need to crochet extra length onto the dressing gown, this will be done soon (I hope!).
The jacket is in need of iron but it has been stuffed into my crochet bag for weeks now so hence the wrinkles... and besides bubba Joe doesn't mind a few wrinkles.

Taste testing
I've been experimenting in the kitchen.
A birthday is coming up for a newly diagnosed Diabetic, so I've been experimenting to find a recipe suitable for a birthday cake.
I made cupcakes with & without sugar using the same recipe and also did the same with the cookies.
A friend came over & kindly helped me taste test the above plate! And to our surprise, they all turned out ok! So my experiment has worked, I can now bake both a bday cake and a batch of cookies for the Bday girl!
The photo shows me cheating... I'm not going to using chocolate icing on the cake, I'll use cream - I just didn't have any on hand for the taste testing!! The cupcake on the left has the fake sugar and the cookie on the right has the fake sugar too.
Do you have any tried & tested Diabetic friendly recipes that I can pass on??

Layout of a dressing gown
Below is a picture of what Joe's dressing gown looks like at the moment. It has been laid out flat, the front panels (dark blue) have been sewn onto the back and the sleeves have been crocheted across both front & back. It's slowly getting there!

Medicine
My lil bubba Joe was sick.
Sick for the first time - ever.
High fever, vomiting, floppy, listless, crying in pain.
The poor lil thing.
So I took him to the doctor.
He had his first medicine.
First medicine ever.
The medicine worked.
Bubba Joe is well again.
So I kept a momento, the medicine bottle.
The medicine bottle is now a little vase.
And may I just add, that I know that I'm a brand new mum and I know he will be sick many times in his life but this was the first time EVER.
Panic.
Torment.
Torture.
My soul was ripped up and I was at a dithering loss. But I sucked it up. I sucked it in. I remained calm. I remained logical. I remained me. And we got thru it and I'm glad.
Phew, tough few days but they've gone now & the giggles are back, the grins are back and the bouncing on peoples laps are back (Joe not me)!
